You can can green beans outside. Prepare your beans in the jars and close to seal. If you can find these now. A 5 gallon galvanized washing tubs the type that were used with wringer washers. It is recommended that you cut a piece of plywood or planks to protect the glass jars from the heated metal. Place wood in bottom of tub and then place your jars of beans and fill tub up with water to second rim of tub. Tub should be placed on cinder blocks so you can build a fire under the tub. Keep fire going under tub and beans should cook within about 3 hours. Be sure to keep water in tub. This is the way that my Mother and Dad canned beans when I was a little girl. This is an old fashion way to can beans. My Mother was afraid of the canners that you put on top of the stove.
