can I use marshmallow cream instead of marshmallows?

My daughter loves the treats made with fruity pebbles. I've used the marshmallow cream successfully, just guage the marshmallow, sugar, butter content so it isn't too watery looking. Liquidy, but not watery. Choice of words is bad, sorry.

you might have to add some powdered sugar to it...that will thicken it up enough to stand on its own and for you to cut it into squares...good luck

I want to make cheerio treats, and all the recipes I have found say to use marshmallows, not the cream. I have a jar of the cream already though, can I not just use this? How much do I use?
