EVERY DAY IS SOMEBODY'S BIRTHDAY CAKE
2 1/3 c. self-rising flour1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
2 eggs, unbeaten
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar and shortening. Mix well. Add milk and flavoring gradually, scraping bowl frequently. Add unbeaten eggs and beat another 2 minutes. Pour into 2 (9") layer pans or this almost fail-proof cake is excellent for use in mold cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes if using regular cake pans or for 45 minutes if using a mold pan. Cool and ice with Birthday Cake Icing
This is the cake reciepe I used. It was very good. I've bought cakes from people that weren't this good...

SK Slegends, that is the recipe I use, but I also add about 1/2 teaspoon of almond flavoring. I think using real butter makes a differance.

Cream Cheese frosting is simple...Cream cheese ,powdered sugar and vanilla....I never measure this stuff..

Buttercream icing....1/2 cup shortening, 1 stick real butter, about 3-4 cups powdered sugar, 2 TBSP ice cold milk 1 tsp vanilla...Cream shortening and butter..add powdered sugar slowly...Add milk and vanilla....Good luck...

This is the recipe I use when I decorate cakes.

2 lb bag of powdered sugar

1 cup crisco shortening

2 Tablespoons of flour

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1/2 cup of water

1 teaspoon of clear vanilla

In bowl mix 1/2 of the sugar with crisco, flour, salt, and 1/2 of the water mix well.

Add the rest of the sugar and water mix well.

For Chocolate just add half of a can of your favorite store bought icing mix well..

I use Duncan Hines Homestyle Chocolate or Betty Crocker Chocolate.

I'm looking for a good cake icing homeade. I found the perfect homeade cake reciepe but the icing I made was terriable. I'm looking for a sugary icing. Not buttercreme. I plan on trying this for the fourth. Any reciepes would be appreciated.
