1 lb ground beef browned and drained.

1 or more cups of brown or white rice, cooked according to package directions (not instant!)
Combine:

1 8 oz can of tomato paste with

1 15 oz can of tomato sauce

1 head of cabbage

Mix the beef and rice together in a bowl.

Using a whole cabbage leaf, place the beef and rice mixture in the middle.

Roll from both ends and sides to form a pillow (you can secure with toothpick or tuck under)

Place the rolls in a baking dish and cover with tomato sauce &paste mixture.

If you want to, you can sprinkle the top with shredded cheese (I like sharp cheddar)

Bake covered in a 350 oven until the sauce is bubbling and cabbage is tender.

Remove cover and bake another 5-10 minutes.

The laziest and best way is to do it all on the stove top.

1 lb ground beef browned and drained.

1 8 oz can of tomato paste and 1 15 oz can of tomato sauce stirred in with the drained ground beef

1 small head of chopped cabbage added in and allowed to wilt and soften to texture you like.

It is supposed to last a couple of days..They lie. I eat it all by night. It is addictively delicious.

Or a quick easy version, once you decide on the meat mixture, is hollow out the cabbage and stuff the whole thing, top with tomato sauce or hunt's meatloaf sauce, cover, and then bake til done.

Is this the only way to make them? I am not big on meatloaf.

Goddess, have you ever tried pouring some of the Hunt's Meatloaf Fixings over the rolls. I'll bet that would be good. Your recipe set me to thinking. I am going to try that next time I get in the mood for cabbage rolls.

all I do is make a meatloaf mixture...

then parboil whole cabbage leaves for maybe 2 minutes...do not cook all the way.

let them cool then place a couple or more teaspoons of mixture into leaves and roll

secure with toothpick

place in a buttered or Pam sprayed baking dish

pour some tomato juice or tomato soup over rolls

bake @350 degrees covered with foil for about an hour

Could somebody please give me the simplest recipe they have for cabbage rolls. I have never made or had them but I love cabbage. I have heard that they are really good.
