Sounds good (first version.) I may try this recipe while substituting the cabbage with bok choy. Love bok choy!

Cabbage Burgers

1 pkg. yeast
1/2 c. lukewarm water
1/4 c. sugar
1 t. salt salt and pepper
1/2 c. scalded milk
1 c. water
1 stick butter
2 eggs
5-6 cups flour
1 lb. ground beef
2 lb. cabbage, shredded
1 medium onion

In a large bowl dissolve 1 pkg. yeast in % cup of lukewarm water.
Add 1/4 c. sugar and 1 t. salt.
Mix 1/2 c. scalded milk, 1 c. water and I stick butter.
Let cool and add to yeast mixture.
Beat in 2 eggs and add 5-6 cups flour to make a soft dough.
Cover with damp cloth and set aside 40 mm. to rise.

While dough is rising, prepare the following.
Place ground beef in skillet. Stir until brown. Add cabbage, onion,
salt and pepper.
Cook until cabbage and onion are soft.
Cool. Add grated parmesan cheese.

When dough is double, roll out to ¼” and cut into 4” squares.
Place one heaping tablespoon of meat mix in center of each square.
Bring corners of dough together and seal seams.
Place seam side down on greased cookie sheet.
Let rise 2 minutes.
Bake 20-25 minutes of until lightly browned.

another:
1 lb. raw hamburger(crumbled)

3 cups shredded raw cabbage

1/2 medium onion (chopped)

1 1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon Accent seasoning

1 1/2 cups water

Pepper to taste

Heat large skillet. Add hamburger and brown lightly. Drain off all fat. Blend in remaining ingredients. Mix well. Bring to boiling point, turn down heat and simmer, uncovered 20 minutes or until all water has evaporated. Cool.

1 package dry yeast

1/4 cup warm water

2 teaspoons sugar

2 cups flour

3/4 cup milk (scalded and cooled)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon shortening (melted)

Add sugar and yeast or warm water in large bowl. Let stand 5 minutes. Blend in milk, salt, shortening and flour. Mix well. Turn dough out on a floured board and knead several minutes until smooth and elastic. Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover bowl with damp cloth. Let rise until double in bulk about 30 minutes.

Roll dough onto a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Cut dough into squares about 4 to 5 inches in size. Place 2 heaping tablespoons of cabbage meat mix in center of each square. Bring 4 corners together and pinch shut. Gently mold into circular shapes. Place burgers, seams down on greased baking sheet. Let rise in warm place about 20 minutes. Bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until done.

When I was in high school in the 70's (yeah I'm older than dirt) there was a dish served in the lunchroom called cabbage burgers. Anyone know the receipe for it?
