They have it at the Amish Store off Windsor Road in Yadkin County. I also buy other dry mixes. They also have pretty good prices on spices.

I have purchased it at Lowe's. I believe I got it in the section, near the flour, where they sell ground flax, steel cut oats, etc. Just ask and they will locate it for you if it is currently in stock.

You can find the powdered buttermilk at most any grocery store in the section where powdered milk, evaporated milk, etc is found.

They have the buttermilk powder at all grocery stores. The substitute should work as well.

biteyourtongue, you gave the recipe for a buttermilk substitute. I believe (might be wrong) that Fancipants is looking for a solid, not liquid. Someone said you could get it at the local grocery stores. I don't know because I've never used it. But I was thinking that if it's a hard to locate item, you might try the Amish store in(Hamptonville). If you don't know where it's at, I'll give directions: 421S, Toward Winston, take the Windsor exit, turn rt at stop sign and go about 3-4 miles, you will pass a winery and a gift shop on the rt. When you see Shiloh Church on the left, turn left immediately and you will be there. It doesn't say Amish, I believe it's Shiloh General Store. They are open Tues -Sat, I believe. Even if you can't find buttermilk powder, you'll find a wonderful deli bar, where you write your own order and it's prepared right then. The sandwiches are close to Clegg Culler's but no one will ever beat him. They make a wonderful organic oatmeal with fruits in it that I love. It's instant and you just have to add water and microwave. they have hot fresh donuts on Sat.

What can I say, hi? You'll have to ask my old bf's I guess to get a real, truthful answer.

Make your own...here's how:
Milk (just under one cup) 1 Tablespoon white vinegar or lemon juice Preparation: 1. Place a Tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice in a liquid measuring cup. 2. Add enough milk to bring the liquid up to the one-cup line. 3. Let stand for five minute. Then, use as much as your recipe calls for.
