bread and butter pickles
1gal cukes
8 small onions
2 tbsp. mustard seed
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
5c white vinegar
3 1/2 c sugar
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp celery seed
1/3 c. salt
ice(bag)

slice cukes and onions crosswise like coins.toss with salt only, mix in the ice in with the cukes and onions and leave extra ice for the top..let this stand for 4-8 hrs,drain well.then mix the remaining ingredients and place cukes and onions in liquid.boil 5 minutes pack into sterile jars and seal or just reuse old pickle jar if you eat them like our family does.and throw them boys in the fridge
