I have made several pans of biscuits since our baking class Tues. I am so proud to finally be able to make biscuits. I found out what I had been doing wrong all of these years. I wanted to play with my dough too much like play dough.

I am so sad I missed the class, but it sounds like y'all learned a lot. I have never heard of tomato jelly, but I bet I would like it.

To make Tomato preserves. You will need 1 cup of tomatoes to 1 cup of sugar.Dip tomatoes in boiling water for a few seconds take out and slip off skins.Core and chop.Drain off all juice. Mix 1cup tomatoes and 1 cup sugar for as large of pot you would like to make.Cook on high until mixture comes to boil.Lower heat to medium heat, stiring constantly for 2 1/2 hours. Can in pints jars.

Recipes prepared in tonights baking class...

Biscuits: Southern Biscuit Formula L
preheat oven to 425
3 1/4 cup biscuit flour
1 1/4 cup cold buttermilk
mix just enough to get all the flour wet
transfer dough to floured surface very gently
roll or press dough to 1/2 inch thickness
use a floured cutter or floured glass to cut out biscuits and gently put them in an ungreased baking pan with sides touching.
Bake 10-12 minutes or till your tops are as golden brown as you like.

Beer Bread:
3 cups of White Lily Flour
3 tablespoon sugar
1 can of beer, any flavor will do.
Mix gently till all flour is wet
Oil a loaf baking pan and pour batter into baking pan.
If you like you can let it settle for about 30 minutes before putting in preheated oven. I usually don't. Bread will be crusty and somewhat like a bread cake. This recipe can include any herb or herb mixture you like or dried fruit such as apricots, peaches...so on and so forth. Just use your imagination!!!
