Apple Pie Jam


Ingredients:
4-5 golden delicious apples peeled and sliced ( about 2 pounds)
1 cup water
5 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. butter
1 pouch liquid pectin ( 3oz.)
1-1/2 tsps. ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground mace ( optional)

Directions:
In a large pot combine apples and water. cover and cook slowly just until tender.

Measure 4-1/2 cups of apples: return to pot. (discard the rest or save for another use) Add sugar and butter to pot and bring to a full rolling boil stirring constantly. Add pectin and return to boil stirring constantly for 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in spices. Skim off foam.

Pour into hot jars leaving 1/4 inch head space. Adjust caps.

Process in a boiling-water bath for 10 minutes
