1st Day: Mix 2 1/2 cups sugar and 1 can (20 ounce) sliced peaches (in their own juice). Stir everyday with wooden or plastic spoon. 10th Day: Add 2 cups sugar and 1 can (20 ounce) crushed pineapple and juice (in their own juice).

20th Day: Add 2 cups sugar and 2 (10 ounce) jars of maraschino cherries and juice or 20 ounce fruit c*cktail.

Stir Everyday.

30th Day: Drain juice from fruit. Divide fruit into 3 parts. Divide juice into 1 1/2 cups portions (should make 5 portions). Place in jar and give to friends with copy of recipe.

Keep mixture at room temperature in a 1 gallon or larger covered container (glass or plastic). Do not cover too tight. Fruit may bubble some; this is fine as long as it is covered.

AMISH FRIENDSHIP BREAD

Do not use any type of metal spoon or bowl for mixing

DO NOT REFRIGERATE

If air gets into the bag, let it out

It is normal for the batter to rise, bubble & ferment

Instructions:

DAY 1: This is the date on the bag.You don’t need to do anything on this day other than put the bag in a place of moderate (room) temperature & where you’ll notice it each day.

DAY 2:Mush the bag

DAY 3:Mush the bag

DAY 4:Mush the bag

DAY 5:Mush the bag

DAY 6:ADD to the bag 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of milk, mush the bag

DAY 7:Mush the bag

DAY 8:Mush the bag

DAY 9:Mush the bag

DAY 10:BAKING DAY….follow the instructions below;

·Pour the contents of the bag into a NON-METAL bowl

·Add 1 ½ cups flour, 1 ½ cups sugar, 1 ½ cups of milk

·Measure out 4 separate batters of 1 cup into each gallon Ziploc bags.Keep a yeast starter bag for yourself (if you choose) and give the other 3 bags along with these instructions to friends.Write today’s date on each bag so your friends will know what day is designated as DAY 1

·Preheat oven to 325 degrees

·ADD the following to the remaining yeast mixture in the bowl;

~ 3 eggs

~ 1 cup oil

~ ½ cup milk

~ 1 cup sugar

~ 2 tsp cinnamon

~ ½ tsp baking soda; salt & vanilla

~ 2 cups flour

~ 1 large box vanilla instant pudding

·Grease or oil 2 large loaf pans

·Mix an additional ½ cup sugar & 1 ½ tsp cinnamon.Dust the greased pan with this mixture.

·Pour batter evenly into 2 pans & sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar mixture over the top.

·BAKE 1 HOUR

·Allow the loaves to cool 15 minutes until they loosen easily from the pans

·Serve & Enjoy!

Be creative & add different things to the batter just before.

Nuts, choc chips, bananas, nuts, different flavor puddings.

If you omit the cinnamon it’s a totally different taste as well.

If you keep a starter yeast bag for yourself, you will be baking fresh FRIENDSHIP BREAD every 10 days.

Only the Amish know how to create the starter yeast, so if you give it all away, you’ll have to wait until someone gives you one back.Yum Yum….

I am looking for a starter for a 30 cake/friendship cake. If anyone has one they wouldn't mind sharing I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
