My grandmother makes these all the time. I can see if she has an extra starter that you can get. Just send me your info and I will check with her in the morning.

ProudNana,, I have found online how to make the starters from scratch, but it takes a long time and I need to get one started with the fruit in it now so I can bake my cakes before Christmas. I use them as gifts. They are the BEST!
I talked to someone today who said she might be ablet to get one or two from a friend. If she does, I will share with you if you'd like to have one. Have you ever made one?

I would like to get a starter, or two, from someone for a 30 day cake. Someone on gowilkes was kind enough to get one to me last year, but after the fruit had been in it for just 3 days it molded so I assume it was very old.
If anyone has a started they wouldn't mind giving me, please send me a PM.
