Those wall mounted gas stoves are less expensive than the gas logs. I know the wall mounts were a lot less expensive a few years back.

I've thought about doing this alot. I have two chimneys one with an insert and one with Gas logs. I burn wood in the insert but never use the logs because they're in a section of the house I never use. The blower in the insert would circulate the heat better than the logs. You would get alot of gain from the mass in the insert with it's steel and brick. I bet some smart guy could figure out how to hook a thermostat to the whole works so the gas could turn on and off. When I was real young I rented a house and put a gas circulator in it to replace one of those old oil circulators. It was the best heat I've ever had. Of course gas was cheaper than oil at the time.

Thanks Crypt. Yes The doors will be taken off. And the opening on the top left open
My thought is the steel will get hot and help radiate heat and therefore won't cost as much. As some cheap *** set of gas logs mounted in the wall

Personally I wouldn't even do it to the one in the shed.

Read that. Gas logs need a tremendous amount of air or they can explode. Maybe if you took the door off the stove.

You will regret that if gas goes back up.

Don't you do a lot of cooking on your woodstove?

I have a wood stove I'm thinking about converting to gas logs. Simply buying gas logs to put inside it. Has anyone done this before how did it work out? Any special procedures to take ?
