WOOD STOVE FRESH AIR RETURN

This is what I thought the OP meant http://www.stovesonline.co....supply.jpg Newer wood stoves have about a 3" opening for combustion air but I am able to get a decent amount of combustion air thru a 3/4" black pipe using a small fan. Without a fan I would have to cut a 3" hole in the bottom of my stove to get enough outside air in the combustion chamber. By bringing in outside air directly to the combustion chamber your stove will not suck cold air used for combustion thru doors, windows and cracks making a cold draft in the house.

I have. I run 1" pipe from the attic thru a wall to a small muffin fan with a wall switch under the stove then drilled a hole in the bottom of the stove and run the pipe into the stove from the fan. It was well worth the effort.

Has anyone added a fresh air return to and older wood stove ? Mine does not have a factory hookup for this.
