If you do it, at the first sign of carpenter bees......be very aggressive at getting rid of them. They will literally eat your house.

As long as the wood is sealed well to prevent checking, rot and mildew, it isn't a bad option. I know a fellow that used poplar cores left over from where veneer was peeled off of logs. He stained snd sealed the crap out of them when he installed them back in 2001. To this very day, he has had hardly any problems with it.

Fergidaboutit. I did my house in the sawed log faces. Big mistake, lots a maintenance, mildew, etc

We are thinking about putting log siding on our home. I would love to hear some of the pros and cons from others that have already had it installed. We are thinking of using the 2X6 quarter logs in cedar.
