I have a Shark steam mop. I like it alot when I'm in a hurry. I use it on the bathroom & hardwood floors. The only thing I don't like about it is if you have something on the floor that is sticky, I always use the old fashion mop & bucket then go over it with the steamer.

Don't be mean, Mtnbiker. That guy next door was not creepy... He was hot, and he drove an El Camino!!

I meant it does not get the floor wet enough to damage. Need to read before I send :)

I have oak hardwoods and use my Shark steamer 1-2x per week. It does not the floor wet enough to damage.

I once got an email for a friend saying, Swiffer was poisonous to pets. I don't remember the link to look it up, but I'm sure someone knows it.

I purchased one but returned it because it left streaks on the floor. It looked really bad.

Fins is correct. Not a good idea to use steam or hot water on wood floors. I have prefinished oak floors and I use 3 to 1 ratio of lukewarm water and windex, with a barely damp mop.

I can't imagine that they provide enough moisture to really ruin the floor, but I've never used one or seen one used. I've using my Swiffer Wet-Jet, but I don't feel like it gets the floor clean enough. Thanks for the input everyone!

You all better be careful using steam mops on wood floors. Moisture makes wood expand. And if there isn't enough room for it to expand, it will buckle. If the floors were finished on site, you have less off chance of causing them to buckle because the finish seals them better. But if they are prefinished floors, the odds are much higher that they will buckle. And if they are parkay floors, they will buckle for sure.

I have oak floors and have used a steam mop for two or three years. Love it.

Kenc I assume you mean vinyl / linoleum type tiles. If so it's time for new vinyl. If you mean ceramic tile then there were some serious installation errors no matter how old.

We use the Shark on our laminate floors and it does a great job....BUT they're NOT real wood. Like was posted previously, any liquid on real wood flooring may cause warping.

Steam mops are great, but my husband is steaming the tiles loose in the kitchen. When he steams, he steams too much.!

I have a Shark steam mop and I love it. I have hardwood floors and it does great. The floors dry quickly and feel clean with no residue or sticky feeling.

Wonder if that will work with my 5 kids satan.
Hope I like using just the swifter wetjet. they make a formula just for hardwood floors and it seems to work pretty good with mine.
