starting flower seeds?

iem, I agree about pansies being a pain to start from seed. They are about the only flower I buy container grown from Lowe's or Home Depot.

Looks like the pansies I want are a pain to start. Part say they need light to germinate and part need dark to germinate and most of them need to be sealed in a plastic bag to start and it can take up to 3 weeks to see them start at all. The only reason I was thinking pansies is because they are so cold hardy. Any other suggestions?

Nasturtiums can be sown directly into the ground as soon as it is past the last frost. They are low maintenance and I use to plant them in an edible landscape they looked stunning near the snow pea pods and sugar snap peas.

I have decided to try starting my own flower seeds, some for spring summer and some for late summer and fall. Does anyone have experience starting nasturtium seeds? How about pansies and ornamental cabbage? Thanks in advance.
