Now that you mention it, how often do you need to have it pumped, anyway?

I know about septic tanks as i use to install tanks and lines it still does not answer the question what is going on that the OP thinks he needs to pump his tank.

Joseph T a septic tank needs to be pumped to get the inert matter out. Bacteria will only break down so much then it just accumulates. It eventually takes up all the tank space and goes to the tail lines and plugs them up. At that point the tank needs to be pumped and the tail lines replaced. That job raises the cost from a couple hundred to a couple of thousand.

My question is why do you think it needs to be pump in the first place

One year in Morganton during the Christmas Parade a Clean White Septic Truck was in the parade. It was not a float but it was the only vehicle that I remember. So Funny.

The bactera in your tank grows and multplys, if you have all of it pumped out you have no bactera and your tank will fill up faster, The bactera breaks wast, paper and any thing biolgic down. Its called seading your tank. Oh and buy the way you and your family make the bactera in your bodys.
