septic tank smell

Crypt

I recently had to tear out a wall behind my washer. I found the sewer stack vent to the washing machine had seperated at a poorly glued coupling. Your're Welcome.

Its just this whole town!! It all stinks unfortunately. I moved here a year ago and the smell stays in your clothes. If you leave them in the dryer they smell like sewer water. I live in a brand new complex so its not faulty. Tjis place just reaks of farm animals and chicken farms ( tysons) cant wait to move in a few weeks. Some are so use to the smell they dont smell anything. What good is a shower in wilkes. Smh.

Sounds like you have a drain that has no p trap. http://www.google.com/searc...sgqoAMkULw

My experience has been that sometimes the barometric pressure causes such odors to linger. Good luck!

momofzands, First check all traps at the fixtures!! Make sure that all have and are holding water. It is a possibility that a seal , or wax ring at a commode needs to be replaced. Check the main vents on top of the house to make sure there are no obstructions.

Could someone have ran over your septic tank and broke it? Usually it takes some kind of heavy equipment.

I bet the smell from the septic tank would be masked, for a while at least.

Let me come over and take a big crap in your bathroom, that should fix all your clogged pipes.

Could be the sewer vent stopped up. You might try setting the washer so it will fill the tub as high as it will go with hot water, add some clorox, leave the lid up so it won't drain, and let it wash a while. You'd be suprised what builds up near top of the tub when you wash a lot of light loads.

Check all your drain traps to be sure they have the water seal intact. If it dries out the odor will come back through the drain. They will dry out in the winter.

I'm clueless on this subject but I've had a similiar issue...there's no way this could cantaminate the fresh water coming into the house could it?

You might have a bad trap in the line. I'm not a plumber & I'm sure someone on here will correct me but there should be a "trap" in the drainline that prevents the sewer smells from coming back up. You can do an online search & get it explained better.
