A couple years ago I needed to get a boiler checked out when moving into a house. Aldridge in Boone quoted me 75$ to check out the boiler. The man came and made some adjustments, spent about 2 hours here, then I got a call from the secretary saying I had to pay 250$ immediately. This was frustrating as the repairman never stated he was doing anything other than agreed upon work. One of the adjustments he told me about was regulating the amount of air going in by moving a plate on the burner.

Now after having someone else service the boiler, I find out that the setting was all wrong, caused the heat exchanger to clog with soot, because the air passages were all clogged with dirt and didn't allow enough air in even at full open position. Aldridge didn't clean out the dirt, and didn't even check burner operation to verify clean burn, so I've been wasting lots of $ and destroying my heat exchanger for the past 2 heating seasons because of their poor service.

It looks like they were angling to get the job to replace the whole unit which would mean big bucks, by intentionally destroying my boiler with bad adjustments, then charging three times the stated fee in the process. I will personally never hire them for anything and give them the lowest rating possible.
