IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO PLANT A GARDEN. IN FACT, I CONTINUE TO PLANT CUCUMBERS, SQUASH ,CORN UNTIL JULY. CUCUMBERS AND SQUASH ARE SHORT SEASON CROPS THAT CAN BE PLANTED EVERY TWO WEEKS UNTIL AUGUST. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO HARVEST THEM ALL SUMMER LONG. TOMATOES CAN BE PLANTED UNTIL AUGUST 1ST. EACH YEAR I PICK CUCUMBERS, SQUASH, CORN AND OKRA UNTIL THE FIRST FROST. PICK ALL YOU GREEN TOMATOES JUST BEFORE THE FIRST FROST, STORE THEM IN A PAPER BAG AT ROOM TEMPERATURE AND YOU MAY HAVE TOMATOES TO EAT AT YOUR CHRISTMAS DINNER LIKE I DO.

Most local gardeners wait until early May to plant their gardens to make sure cold weather does not get them. You need to plant warm season vegetables and avoid planting things like lettuce, cabbage, greens and other cool season vegetables. Tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, melons and corn are fine to plant right now.

I'm planting today, almost all my plant that got "bit" by the frost are coming back so I will just have a later harvest.

You can still plant most veggies now. We planted some things a couple of weeks ago & are going to wait another week & plant more. That way we'll have veggies coming in at different times.

Read your Bible where you plant a garden or not. The Bible has nothing to do with planting a garden. I wouldn't go out and plant one in the winter time though.

Not too late. Many people who planted early lost it to the late frosts we had a couple weeks ago. You missed some good rain though.

Contact the folks who oversee the community garden plots at the Cub Creek facility in Wilkesboro, adjacent to the Hidden Oaks dog park. I am sure that they would be glad to help.
