Scott is correct! A good quality primer will cover the design in the wallpaper and the paint will look great!

your paper wasnt adhered to the wall good to start with. oil based kilz will cover any thing you have on your walls and the smell will take over your house for a little while also. call me ill come and fix it for ya.i also do textured and faux finishes that will knock your sox off . 262-0026 scott bishop interior concepts.

WalMart and Lowes both carry a paint that is all in one. It has the primer and final coat so you don't have to go over it so much. It's a little more expensive but it does the job over wall paper. I have wall papered sheet rock in my house and if you try to remove the paper it breaks up the sheet rock so that's what I used. One coat and it was perfect.

I had wallpaper painted in my kitchen and dining room about 4 yrs. ago and love it. Make sure to use a very good primer and use flat paint. Gloss or eggshell paint will show seams in wallpaper through paint. I had a paper that was going to be very difficult to get off therefore I painted. good Luck

You can paint it, but I wouldn't recommend it. I know it's a tedious job but I would go ahead and get it off. Use a scorer and score it all over, then spray with a solution of warm water and fabric softener. Let that sit a little bit and then scrape off. Be very careful when scraping that you don't scrape of layer of drywall paper. If you are dead set on painting it...clean it well and then prime it and then paint. Mold shouldn't be a problem if there isn't already any there.

I have wallpaper that has been on the wall since the late 80's. It is stuck hard and fast and is still in very good condition. I was going to remove it and update with paint, but after spending 2 hours on about a 1 foot square, I decided it wasn't worth the effort. my question, can I paint over the wallpaper? it appears to be a very durable wipe clean vinyl-ish paper. Will i need to be concerned with mold if I do decide to paint? any knowledgable help will be appreciated.
