Well, we did end up going with a shade of blue, although I was VERY tempted to go with dark chocolate! Except for the fact that it's a bathroom, though, and well... I was afraid that all that brown might have a different interpretation in a bathroom
We tried a few samples, but eventually with with "Magnet Dapple" (whatever that's supposed to be). It's a Valspar color that sort of a grayish-blue. Here's a swatch on their website, but of course, colors on a screen will vary a lot from monitor to monitor:

It's not quite as deep as I'd originally wanted, but I think it complements the tile well.
Thanks for the advice, all!

Dark milk chocolate.
But you will need good lighting.

I have the same tile and border in my kitchen as my backsplash. I agree that the tile is kind of neutral. I personally like a contrasting color. We used Sherwin Williams Sage Green in the kitchen. Sher. Will. will mix sample paint for about $5. Like mssassy said, pick a couple of colors and try them before deciding. I think you can go pretty dark and be ok as light as the tile is. Good luck!

Go to the paint store and buy you a couple of samples and then try both in a small spot

I'm curious what you guys might think about this. I'm remodeling a bathroom, and now have a tile shower that's a mix between tan and terracotta, and tiled both the floor and halfway up the walls in a tan and cream tile.
Here is the shower:

And the tile:

We also have a decorative tile border about halfway up the wall:

The hardware in the room is oil rubbed bronze (which is almost black), and the vanity, medicine cabinet, etc are a dark stained wood.
The thing I can't quite decide is the paint color for the top half of the wall. With the shower and tile being very light in color, I'm really thinking that I should go with a deep, darker color for the top to have a strong contrast; like a deep blue.
What do you guys think?
