Boy does that bring back memories!!!! Our daughter was 2-3 years old when the little bar that holds the toilet paper on suddenly was missing. Toilet was stopped up......put 2 and 2 together and yeah, no doubt the little "bar" had been flushed!!! Husband removed and installed two new toilets before our problem was resolved. Don't ask me why it didn't work the first time......I guess so I would have to clean up the mess not once but twice!!! Good memories now......not so much then. :)

snaking the item out would be ideal , but you may just push it further into the pipes and it cause bigger problems it depends on what it is a snake would remove say a rag/t-shirt/ stuffed animal, paper clog but it might push a more solid item further in. taking the toilet up is simple remove two bolts and one water line, a new wax ring is $1.00-$5.00. its just a little messy

A&J rentals or any tool rental place should have one for a very small rental charge or lowes sells cheapo ones http://www.lowes.com/pd_246...facetInfo=from $10.00 i would bite the bullet and get a slightly better one for $30.00 then you have one if ever needed again, its lots cheaper than a plumber

If worse comes to worse take the toilet up yourself and run a clothes hanger down there. It is pretty easy to take the toilet up. Just make sure to put in a new seal ring when you put it back in because anytime you remove the toilet you break the old seal.

I had a similar problem when my #1 Daughter was about 3-4 years old. I worked the plunger, snake, and even pulled the toilet out and ran the garden hose through it out in the yard. Nothing happened. I finally got so 'ticked off' that I picked it up and threw it on the ground. Out popped a hairbrush for one of her dolls!!!

A toilet snake isn't that hard to use.. I'm sure you can do it without having to have a plumber..

OMG, sounds like something he would try to do. My husband just told me that he caught the little one playing with the toilet yesterday so now I am sure it is something like this. I'm not sure this is a job we could do ourselves. Oh geez, anybody know a cheap plumber or what they would charge?

you may have to have the toilet took up, we had the same problem about 17 years ago and when we pulled it up found a potato that my then 2 year old had tried to flush.

I googled and a lot of people suggested dish soap and hot water. Now I just have a toilet full of hot, bubbly water.

Well...I think my 2 year old must have flushed something but have no idea what. Came home yesterday and the toilet was stopped to the max. No amount of plunging or waiting has helped. Any suggestions that don't involve a plunger?
