My dad used to keep chickens, and I don't remember anything keeping them out of the garden. They love to get in there and dig in the mulch for bugs.


My best recommendation is to use the poly deer fencing that you get by the roll at Lowes. It's cheap and easy to use, and it fits in to the landscape better so it's not so ugly. Just get some 3" wooden stakes (around $2 each), drive them in the ground, then zip-tie the fencing to it. In the fall, just cut the zip-ties and roll it up.

how can you keep chickens out of mulch in flower bed without putting up a fence?
