We went with 3 post split rail because our lot is one big steep hill...Getting it in one straight line is nothing a chainsaw didn't fix. We used farm fencing attached to the inside of it to contain the dogs - you cant see the farm fencing from the street at all.

If you have dogs that are a challenge to contain, use 3 post instead of two post - it allows more contact points when installing the wire farm fence...and buy one grade better of it than you think you need...

At the time (4 years ago), blevins was cheaper on the posts and beams, and they delivered for free. The part of the fence actually behind the house, not visible from the street, is actually just standard wire farm fencing from the front part continued around...

forever is right and hipower is right... you can do the panels but they look stupid... best to buy the slates.. and frame the frames maully to fit the contour of the hill.... this will make it more uniform. it's easy

If you want the fence to follow the contour of the ground just buy the fence boards individually and build the fence instead of using panels, it's not that hard. It won't cost a great deal more and will be better quality anyway. Use screws instead of nails, if you need to replace a board or two years down the road , it'll be easy.

BTW, when I say "if it's like man," I mean "if it's like MINE!" LOL

And yeah, mine's all zig zagged, which looked fine at first, but now I wish I'd gone the extra mile and had it all level. I'll probably tear it down in a couple of years and start over.

That's a bummer, it would look crazy all zig zagged.

If it's like man, you can install it on a hill, but it looks bad; one panel up, one panel down, etc.

You can use a trencher to get the fence even, but if the ground isn't landscaped then it will be a good time to grade it all off.

Anyone had experience putting up the panel fencing from lowes (or from anywhere)

Does the area need to be level or can you install in on hills and such?

First first to respond gets a dollar.
