Great news, glad you got it running. I hope you didn't take me wrong about leaving gas in your mower. Just now a days you can't do that cause the gas isn't anything but water and alcohol with some gas. It gums up a carb but bad and ruins engines.
Lots of small engines are ruined every mowing season cause of the crap gas.
Next fall buy you some stablizer and take out all your old gas. Put some of the stablizer in your tank after you've ran all the gas out. Take the plug out spray in some PB Blaster or WD40 in the spark plug hole, put the plug in and then spray a little in the carb, leave the plug wire off and give the engine a few pulls to get the WD in the carb.
Keeps the carb from drying out during the winter time and helps keep the rings from sticking too. Heck In the spring time all I do is pour out the stablizer and put in gas and so far never had a problem starting up. I also put in just a little Marvel Mystery oil in the plug and turn the engine over 2 or 3 times then put spark to it and off we go mowing.

For those that helped me with my problem I thank you, you may not know it but you will be blessed. I did the carb, thing and it worked. For those of you that had a smart @@@@ remark thanks too because that lets me know just how ignorant some people can sound whether they want to or not. It just takes a simple answer sometimes to help someone out. So again I thank the ones who helped, I wouldn't have had the money to pay someone to mow my grass or take it to a repair shop

Sounds like a lot of folks put them lawn mowers up last fall with gas in them.
Can't do that any more folks without you add stabelizer this cheap *** gas thats got water and alcohol in it.
sounds like carb problems, clean the old gas out, change the filters and get you some carb cleaner and spray out those carbs. Put new gas in and try again!
Next year don't forget to take the gas out and run the lawn mower till it burns all the gas out of the carb and dies.
take the plug out and put some WD40 in and put the spark plug back in.
Put some stablizer in the gas tank and you will be a lot better off for the troubles.

it could be one of the following....1. Stoppped up screen in the fuel pickup in the carburetor or fuel filter. 2. Bad ignition coil or grounded out kill switch wire. 3. Water in fuel due to condensation in the fuel tank. 4.Badly fouled spark plug. I hope this info helps.

Maybe gas filter stop up or loose connection to spark plug. or the kill switch wire shorted out.

I agree its a carb thing. One trick I use is to have one person pull cord. While I cover the carb with my hand. You should feel the compression and your hand should get wet and smell like gas. Try it a few times, it can help

I would start by checking for trash in the carb. if it has been sitting all winter, it may have the carb gummed up and in need of a good cleaning.
