jmo, but I fail to see the love and fascination with these genetic mutations in their un-godly garish colors. just sayin...

Mine are terrible and the Crape Myrtles aren't any better. Figured it was all the rain.

A solution of Epsom salt and fish emulsion along with placing composted cow manure around your rose bushes will get them back into shape in notime.

You may want to look up pictures of "rose rosette disease," to make sure you're not having that problem. It's a common disease in eastern US, and I have friends in Haywood that are currently experiencing it.

This is a rather severe disease that can wipe out the whole plant, so if this is it then you'll want to start working on it ASAP.

Don't give up on the knock-outs. A little chelated iron and a little hoe work around the base will bring them back to full fettle. The rain has been hard on them but they will survive if you'll just be patient. Expect a lot of blooms in the autumn. Just be sure to deadhead them and make sure that they don't dry out in the next couple to three weeks as we will be having unusual heat after all the rain.

I have a red and a pink one also. They did pretty good early, now not so good. The june bugs have eat on them, that hasn't help their look much. On Almanac Gardener they told of a disease that was affected alot of roses. I can't remember the name. It makes the roses have bright red foliage, and excessive foliage, not alot of blooms. When the roses get this you have to dig it up and dispose of them, it can't be treated. Mostly in the Raleigh and Durham area, but Karen Neill said it was spreading.

Anyone else having a rather "puny" blooming season with their knock out rose bushes? Mine have filled out nicely but the blooms are quite sparse for the first time ever.
Some have said it is due to all the rain and little sunshine.....
