There is little to no difference in motor oil of the same weight. I use to be brand loyal until I read a couple of independent studies that showed no difference between store brand and name brand oil. I still buy name brand oil but I buy what ever is on sale at the time.

Most manufacturers of engines for power equipment specify that you have to use their brand of oil in them if they are still under warranty as not to void it. But if it is no longer under warranty, a good quality 30w high detergent oil is recommended by all the power equipment engine manufacturers in their 4 stroke engines that use gasoline. If at all possible, only use gasoline that has no ethanol in it. Ethanol eats away at the plastic and rubber components of the fuel system and attracts water which corrodes the metal components of the fuel system. If non-ethanol gasoline is not available, use a gasoline additive that removes the ethanol from the gasoline.

Push the mower up a big hill and coast it back down and see if it will jump start. Use 2 nd or 3 rd gear make sure switch is on.
