Nancy I tend to use about half the recommended amount just because of what you said, also adding an extra rinse cycle.

We use very little detergent, so it just wouldn't be practical. Detergent shortens the life of your clothes.

I may have too much time on my hands. But it is MUCH cheaper to make your own than buy what's in the store.

Any one else here ever made their own laundry detergent? I made my first batch yesterday and LOVE it! I think I'm going to do my own fabric softener next.
