I lived in an apartment last year that had a full-blown ant infestation every spring. I found a product that really works to keep ants out of your kitchen and it is non-toxic to pets. I don't remember the name of it but you can get it at Lowe's, it's in the spray insect poison section, look for "natural with lemongrass" on the label. It does have a strong lemony smell but you only have to spray about once a month. Works better than the exterminator, and much much less expensive. Good luck!

This ole gator discovered a good ant killer last year by mistake after battling ants off and on for years. Put colorox in a sprayer bottle and give them a good blast. I mostly used this outside except on my kitchen counters as I have two kitties inside. Lots cheaper than ant poision and kills them dead in their tracks. Good luck.

Find the ant hills and pour cornmeal on them. Pour it around the inside corners and outside of ur home. It's pet friendly and kills ants.

Sprinkle cornmeal around the trail inside and out if possible. Works like the grits probably. I tried it and it worked.

Do you need to add Buttermilk with it?

I second calling Green 2 Go. That's probably going to be the best long term solution.

A lot of people told me to spread raw grits around the ant holes. They'll eat the grits, then when they drink water it swells up and kills them. I've had mixed results with that, though. It seems to work for awhile, but then they just pop up somewhere else, so I think it kills the adults but not the eggs.

That could be an option I would like to take care of the problem outside the home and before spring if possible because I have a lil one I don't want exposed to harsh chemicals inside or out she is my main concern thanks for the input

I get mine from Wilkes Hardware. Just tell them what youre after and they'll fix you up. But you'll find a decent concentrate at Lowes and Walmart too. Probably cheaper and not as good. Do you have a backpack sprayer? If not, I'd recommend you get one. If faced with a choice, I usually pick applying liquids over granules.

Spray a barrier of good pesticde. 3' up the walls and 3' on the ground. Go around doors and windows don't forget deck posts or anything connected to the house. Do this every 3 months while the weather is mild, relatively dry and not windy.

Don't go to calling them little critters out here in winter time. They are enough trouble to get rid of in spring, summer, and fall. We called the exterminator out twice last summer, besides all the insecticide we used ourself.
