I agree with the other posters. Once it gets really cold, there is little you can do.

My advice is to warm as much as possible tonight and buy space heaters.

But DO NOT leave the space heaters on when you are not in the house or asleep.

probably means ...they are going to sell you a bunch of parts and labor instead of telling you once it reaches a certain temperature a heat pump doesn't work(32/30 something), that's what the emergency heating coils in your air handler are for so you have heat at temps below the minimum operating temp of your heat pump.

Heat pumps, will not heat after it gets so cold, your aux heat cuts on, which is your emergency heat, inside heating unit..... Defrost means just that, defrosting the outside unit, it will be steaming, nothing to worry about, they all do it

hey guys what does it mean when they say my heat pump might be in defrost my fan outside wasn't come on blowing out cool air the pump is running but fan want start thanks.
