I used vinsgar, I found a pair of needle nose pliers that was rusted really bad ,put them in a bowl of vinsgar over nite the next day just wiped them with a clean cloth all the rust was gone

Surface rust set it in a bucket of coca cola it works good on golf clubs

If you keep a bucket of sand and add in clean motor oil you can dip your tools in this and it will clean them and keep them from rusting too. Good for garage and gardening tools.

I have used steel wool and machine oil to clean tools with surface rust. wipe the hammer with the oil and the the steal wool. You could also use a fine sandpaper then wipe with oily cloth.

I found my favorite hammer and it has rust or something on it. How do I clean it?
