Put Sevin dust on the hole. They will carry it in the nest and it should kill them all.

If they are true "japanese hornets" and you kill one, the others will come to their rescue via a phermone trail and swarm you... If you have killed some, and still alive, or don't have 5-6 bites from one or several of them, i guess they are not japanese hornets.

Gunpowder, that works very well. I make several of them every year and put near my bee stands. I add a little vinegar as the honey bees will no go in with the odor of vinegar, but the hornets will. I just put a piece of tape over the hole when the trap gets full and throw the bottle in the trash, hornets and all.

get you a couple of 2 liter bottols cut two holes in the top about the size of a quater. Mix about a cup of dish detergent with a cup of water poor in the bottom of two liter. Take a peace of string and tye a hot dog to it and suspend it in side of the botle. Do the exact same thing with with the other bottol but hang a bana peal in side of it . Put both bottols on your deck or hang them off your deck.
The bees will go inside and drown in the soltion.
Good luck

Although people normally call them Japanese hornets they are actually European hornets. They are one of the few hornets that fly at night which makes them difficult to control. The best advice is to find an exterminator that will do the job. If you cannot find a willing exterminator then using the wasp and hornet spray with the long stream at night is another option. Make sure that you are wearing a long sleeved shirt and long pants. Also make sure that you are not near a light source like a flashlight or outdoor light as that is what they will likely attack. Do not stay in the area more then 15 seconds after spraying. You may have to retreat the next night. Do not spray during the day since many of the hornets will be out foraging.

OK. I have tried bee spray to no avail. I called a pest exterminating company who came out - and they wont go near the "Giant Japanese Hornets" that have nested under the siding on my house. I cannot go onto my deck at night because they ATTACK when the lights are turned on.
Can ANYBODY help?
