...said Henny Penny: "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!"

Much ado over nothing. No where in the bill does it restrict home farm gardens, collecting and trading seed, banning organic farming.

Wow! Just because you were e-mailed something on the web does not make it true. Do some more research before you, Goosey Loosey, and Turkey Lurkey become dinner for Foxy Loxy!

I have lots of heirloom seeds from my family. I also studied genetics in college, and saw this coming. It will just be another way to control the food supply.

My family have a community garden every year with their neighbors (they are just across the border in Virginia). It works out very well. They always have way more that anyone can eat (5 acre garden), and they all help out with planting, tilling, canning, ect. If you can find a good group of folks to get together with, it is definately beneficial.

I am really tired of government trying to control my whole life just because some dam politician wants to make more money. If you believe they have our best interests at heart in making this new law, then I have some ocean-front property in Arizona that is going dirt cheap now.

No more heirloom seeds? Sounds like Monsanto is paying them under the table for this. More kickbacks. That way Monsanto sells more hybrid seeds. Money rules!!! I say to **** with them and their stupid 'laws.'

IN COMMUNIST COUNTRIES YOU CAN SAVE AND USE YOUR OWN SEEDS

THIS IS A WAY FOR THE GOV'T TO CONTROL YOUR FOOD

WHAT A POOR EXCUSE FOR A SENATE, TO HAVE PASSED THIS PIECE OF BS

THEY BETTER NOT COME INTO MY GARDEN

and this is democracy ?

I thought we were a free country.

Wonder who lobbied the gov't, and how much they paid.

and if this isn't socialism, what is?

BAN THE LOBBISTS, NOT THE SEEDS

You know the new "food safety" act recently passed by congress gives the gov't control over what we plant, and where we plant it. There are to be no more "heirloom" seeds. They will all be hybrid (can't be dried and used the next year) and who knows what they will taste like. Anyway, I bought some seeds that are supposed to be heirlooms, but they were very expensive.

Anyone interested in a seed exchange? I'm not sure how they work. Maybe just post what you have and if anyone is interested they can contact you. Or maybe someone who is really organized can collect and catalogue them. I will be the first in line to get some.

I am having a garden this year. I have about 3 acres. If anyone wants to work it with me, that would be great. You can either have your own patch, or we can have one big garden and share the harvest. It's different from a CSA because I won't sell shares. I just can't do it all by myself. I will share my garden space and produce just so I can have help getting it going.. I'm right on the county line of Wilkes and Surry. Just off of 268.
