I've never had good luck with a repaired refrigerator. Throw it out and get a new one.

Thanks everyone. I will have my husband check those things out when he gets home this afternoon.

All of the cold air comes from the freezer & is blown down to the frig. You need to unplug the frig. In the freezer part, you will need to take the bottom plate off. If the fan had stopped. The cooling part would have kept running. No way to blow the cold air off the coils. If it is frozen, take a hair dryer & thaw it out. Watch out for the pain under the frig. It will fill up with water if this has happened.

Replace the compressor relay or at least check it. If you open the back and have it set for cold then plug it in you should hear the relay click in, if not replace it. Put the model # and relay # in a search on eBay and you can buy them for under $20. BTW, there is not much back there and the relay should be easily seen.

I had the same problem with an old fridge I have in the basement and it was leaking freon and I had it refilled and it worked good for about 3 months and it has the same problem again now so I would suggest having the repair man check that I had Bare Refrigeration do mine and he was very nice but if it was leaking before then it probably will again

Nancy, the way it works is you have to pay them a certain amount just for coming out either way. Then they charge whatever it cost them to fix it on top of that.

If you will put $20 in my PayPal account I will tell you what is wrong with it right now.

You will be able to do the work yourself with my instructions.

$20

Thanks! I will give him a call today. I figured I would be charged again so I was tryimg to figure out the problem on my own. The freezer is a little colder this morning but the fan has been constantly running in it since the service man was here yesterday morning. I still can't feel any cold air blowing out and the fridge is still a little, cooler than room temp.

had this happen a few months ago, the freezer door did not close all the way and it caused the passage way between the freezer and fridge to freeze up. unplug the refrigerator for 24 hours for it to thaw out. plug it back in and see if that work's. I googled the model refrigerator that I had and this was one of the suggestions they gave.

I agree with Happytrees call the service man back and see if he can figure out why...and yes this should be for free..

call the service man that came out today.... and let him know his work did not fix the issue.. Most service places will warranty the work they do, I would call them and let them know you paid for it to be fix, and it is not fixed...

My Hotpoint fridge is not cooling or freezing right. Had a serviceman out today to fix it. He took the back off of the inside of the freezer and seen that the fan was not turning. He wiggled the fan just a little and it started turning so we paid him and he left. So, I have waited all day for my freezer and fridge to get cooled good so I could put my food back in...but it's still not working. I can hear the fan running when I open the freezer but no cold air is blowing out. The freezer gets a drink cold like the fridge should but will not freeze anything. Fridge is a little cooler than room temp. Any suggestions on what to try now?
