We thought about getting a front loader but Ive heard so many bad things about them that I just went for a top loader. I used it about 10hours after I got it yesterday. Im really satisfied with it although it does seem to take quiet a bit longer to wash a load than it did with my old one. Ive always washed our sneakers often in my old one and Im just debateing whether to wash them in this one or not. Guess I will give it a try tomorrow. Gotta have clean shoes!!!!

The thing I hate most about my front loader is that it takes about 57 minutes to wash a load on Normal cycle. My old top loader did it in about 15, but the front loader does save more water. I have not had a problem with smells either. Hope you enjoy the new one. I know it is the one appliance that is hard to do without, if you are like me and could do a load a day.

I have a front loader and leave the door open due to it will have smell if I leave it closed. I bought at Lowe's on the clearance aisle when my old Roper quit working. It uses less water and less detergent only downfall is the door locks and it washes on a timer.

Yes they do better. There is a reason that commercial washers used this style for decades

I have had front load HE washers and now have a top load. The front load washers or mine anyway ( Samsung steam washer and dryer set ) gets an awful smell after a year or two. The only thing that worked for me was to run about 3 or 4 cups of vinegar through it every so often. I tried the tablets that worked for a few days to a week but the smell always returned. I now have the Whirlpool Cabriao ( sp) set which is a top load washer with a better price tag also and have yet to have that problem. We have had it a little over a year now and no smell so far. So that is something to consider when choosing one. Just my humble opinion though.

this n that, my washer is not a push button....it has the old fashioned dials on it. They seem to work better without problems so I made sure I got my new energy efficient washer with all the older features that I knew worked really well. I didn't purchase a washer just because I wanted one. I had to have one. Before buying I made sure that I researched washers and looked at ratings as well as reading real customer reviews. Any purchase can be a lemon but doing your homework makes that possibility smaller.

If you have one with an extra large load setting, you should be okay to wash quilts & blankets.

I have a kenmore top loading and I wash quilts, comforters, blankets, shoes, and about anything else that gets dirty.
Doubt the new ones can do that. Can they?

After previously working in an appliance call center and listening to customer's complaints, I knew what I wanted & didn't want when I purchased a new washer. I bought a top load energy efficient washer. I can use either the auto load size or can manually adjust the load size if I chose to. I also got a model that does NOT have a lid lock. Those things can be a pain if the washer quits working & it refuses to unlock.
I've had my washer for over a year and absolutely love it.

We brought one I like the older washer better. I thought it would use more water without the agitator and wash more clothes. Mine is loud and has no place for the fabric softer. It came with a plastic ball for it. Good luck with your.

No I don't think they do a better job. The older types have the horizontal rotating agitator and the new ones are coming up with the vertical agitators which is in my opinion does not do as good a job. I have an older model Kenmore and wouldn't trade it for any of the new ones I have tryed or seen.
