If you are doing it to make the house more marketable i would go with a beige. Don't go too light or too dark. Beige just looks more modern and then you can use accent colors in the pillows and curtains. I would change the curtains to another color if budget allows. Something like a brick red, Tiffany blue or mossy green.

Just some random suggestions to get you in the mood to play:
Blue is a very dated color in carpet - if you need to keep it I would consider a paint color that accentuates the color that is a very popular color even if you don't care for it. For example, if it's a wedgewood blue color (probably the most unpopular of blues in this day and time) go for something with a grey undertone- some of the greens have a grey back note, or even a grey itself. On the other hand, if it's a vibrant leaning toward Royal color perhaps something along the lines of taupey beige - if it's a teal type color lean toward a buttery beige type.

You need to focus on the colors that will have to remain in the house such as Blue Carpet!
Depending on what shade of blue it is.... Blue Grey , Royal Blue or Carolina Blue? Some Neturals could be used and still look pleasing. Get rid of all the bold color walls...Hot pink or Royal Blue
If the carpet is in bad shape it will hurt the sell if it remains. Blue is not a popular color in the market now anyway. (Agua or a
Teal with Chocolate Brown still remains in popular colors) You might want to update that and repaint all the rooms anyway for a quicker sale. ....the price of a gallon of paint can make all the difference in the sell of you home! If you are not gifted in painting please hire a painter!
Many sellers have a decorating allowance for the new buyer ....or sell at a greatly reduced price. You may be replacing it to you likes.... and not what the buyer will perfer....that's where the allowance will come in best. Why replace carpet when most people will replace it with wood floors....a waste of money.
Should you decide to update
You need to make the color palet flow from one room to another. Keep the colors light will make a room appear larger and darker smaller.
I often use several shades off one color swatch at Sherwin Williams and they work great together for a little variety....starting with the lighter shades down.
And remember de-clutter....rent a storage building if you are moving it will already be packed!
The taupe and white in the bathroom sounds like a great color to work with ...just throw in color with accessories and rugs.

Sounds like the entire house should have all the rooms repainted into a nice neutral color sheme that flows thru-out the entire house. Go check out the range of paint chips at any Paint store and talk to the salesperson about what would co-ordinate and not clash with your blue carpets. Especially if you are not replacing the carpets. Then stage the house according to the style or period of the house. Remember staging should be kept simple and not cluttered. Give each room definition and purpose. You want to show how great the house itself is not how great your personal style is. Also remember curb appeal and make sure that the outside is as clean and uncluttered as the inside is. Good Luck with your project!

Here's the situation, tell me what you think I should go by color:
I have a large bedroom currently being served as a girls room. Half wainscoating to the bottom, with a rough chair railing type around. Pink on top for color. Blue carpet. White curtains. What to paint the wall? We're being told for purposes of relocating to sell that we need to neutralize this wall. What color do you think?
(Other rooms are already green, another yellow, so those are out.) Then in the master bedroom, bue carpet and a notebook paper color wall. Not nice. The master bath is a taupe color with white linolium. What do you recommend we paint that master bedroom to be?
Thanks.
