I had forgotten about the grape koolaid.. Someone had used that once and I believe it worked for them.

University of Massachusetts has some recommendations on their web site at www.umassgreeninfo.org/homegarden/pdf/bird_protection.pdf. Interestingly they recommend spraying the plants with either grape koolaide or sugar water. The grape koolaide has a chemical that is distasteful to birds and birds cannot digest table sugar so they avoid the berries.

My mother has raspberry, blueberry bushes and cherry trees. The hummingbird feeder is a good idea. She uses net and it helps deter them. The pipe that would look like a black snake is a good idea too.

There are a lot orf cats around and they don't help any.... I put the zest bar in the sock and put it on a stick in the ground and I also tried the fake snake thing. However, I couldn't find a piece of pipe so I used an old black bicycle tube. It looks just like a black snake so I hope this works. Thanks so much for your help.

Go to lowes and buy some netting for fruit trees.

That's a good rememdy for larger, more troublesome pests too.

We use about 5 foot long pieces of black pipe. From a distance they look like a black snake and the birds will leave them alone.. We do the same for the cherry trees. We have had to use old plant bed cloths as well.

Hang a Hummingbird feeder out there , they will fight anything that get close to it.Bird Bee Bug they dont care.

I need help with ideas to keep the birds from eating my blueberries. I have placed the pie pans out there to scare them but it doesn't seem to be working. As soon as one gets ripe a bird eats it. Does anyone have any ideas?
