I appreciate all the help. I don't want to throw a bucket of money away on a piece of junk.

Cub cadet 2000 series I think...1" spindles, Kohler Command engine, 42" deck, if you want to bag. I have a 2542 couple years older, but does great.. Hate the hood design, but they changed it now. look at the mechanical aspects of all your models, look at the blade tip speeds if you have thick grass, go to consumer reports when they test them. Chad will help you out a great bit... stay away from J&B in clingman.

So you are telling everyone to avoid a highly reputable manufacturer because you've had what counts as one bad experience. That's intelligent

Avoid Kubota at all costs. I was in the market for a high quality riding mower in 2008 and was particularly interested in a John Deere, which would cost me about $12K with the features I was looking for. I checked out the Kubota GR 2110 which had these features for about $4K less. Well, being an astute consumer, it was a no brainer. I went to the Kubota place in Wilkes and looked at the GR 2110 and the owner stated that I would be making a big mistake by buying a John Deere. Just goes to show that you are never too old to be hood winked, I bought the Kubota thinking this would be the last riding mower I would have to buy since I was 62 yrs old. My first riding mower was a Murray 11 hp from Lowes in 1984, I sold it in 1998 after purchasing my 2nd riding mower in 1998, a John Deere LT 155 (are you keeping up with the time lapse between pruchases?) I still have the John Deere which I use for leaf collection and mowing and it is working great. Well the Kubota has been back to Blue Ridge Tractor four times as much as my previous mowers combined (one of those times was due to an error from the previous work in for routine maintenance.....A total nightmare. I neglected to say that when I first used the Kuboa to mow my yard that after about 10 minutes of mowing, the deck completely became detached and I ran over a component and the blades impelled it about 50 feet down through the woods., The last time was Aug 2013 and it stayed in the shop until November (3 months) . What did I use while it was in the shop? MY 15 YEAR OLD JOHN DEERE which has been back to the shop once for a drive belt replacement (ROUTINE WORK) and a electrical component replacement. I can honestly say that I have zero confidence in the Kubota now, If it fails again, which I completely expect, I will have to go into the market again and write off the $9000 I have invested in this dud.
The moral of this sad story is to buy just a basic riding mower without all the bells and whistles because all of these bells and whistles have major problems that cost major dollars to fix when they fail, which they will.

if you have vinyl siding, it doesn't stand up to things being thrown against it. as if your mower slings something and it hits the siding.

I use a Husqvarna riding mower. They are a very good mower for the money. The Craftsman line of mowers are now being built by Husqvarna right here in NC.

I don't let Pedro have a beer until he is done. One time I let him drink while mowing. I still don't know how he drove that mower up onto the well cover

The Craftsman Garden Tractor can bag the leaves, plow the garden, snow plow the drive, and mow your yard in about 30 minutes. And if you do break something the part will be available. The 27 HP version of that one sounds like a Huey Helicopter.

I own a cub cadet and I love it. If you buy a zero turn you can get a better deck than the stamped deck but it will cost you more. I believe cub cadet is doing a 0% apr for 36 months. Go see Chad at Wilkes electric motor on 421 and we can help you. Hope this helps.

Do you sharpen your own blades?
Have you ever greased a bearing?
Do you already have a mower lift?
How old is your current mower?
Will the mower be in a heated garage during winter or outside?
Do you drink alchohol before, during or after you mow?
Do you have vinyl siding?

I want one that can pull a trailer & I can put a bagger on. I don't think I want a zero turn for only an acre.
