The best lwn mowers are goats. I saw the episod tank sharks fri. night. goats can eat an acre 1 hr.
go to cattle sale an purchase u a few goats take care of yr lawn and then rent them out to yr neighbors.

Life is too stressful already to worry about a rain shower getting a $2, 000 mower wet. Get a $1, 000 Murray and keep right on mowing. ↑

Where did you buy your Cub Cadets at,,That does make a difference,,,Tractor Supply,lowes,Wal mart are knock off junk

dad bought a cub cadet last year from the white and red farm store in Pennsylvania, that also has a store here as well... he also got the extended warranty. he did not know about the ethanol in the gas problems, and it ate the seals in the carb.... he went to the store within a month after purchase and they told him that he would have to bring it in, leave it, and when they had enough of them, the guy would come around and fix them (roughly 2 weeks). Buy the sturdier version from Wilke's electric...

42" 17.5 HP Murray from Walmart = $1, 000
42" 17.5 HP John Deere from Lowes = $1, 500
Both will require the same care and maintenance over the next 10 years and if you use OEM replacement belts, blades etc. you"ll spend 1.5 times as much for the JD again. Either way you are ready for a new mower but with the money you saved over that the Murray bought your next one for you.

I have to vote for CUB CADET
I HAVE THE 2000 SERIES
Heavy duty with driveshaft it is the best mower I've ever had

I had to digest this for a while before responding. Evidently, you completely missed the central point of my post, which puts into doubt your ability to get to the central point of what i was saying. Go back and read the post and if you get what I am saying is, my final decision was completely based on the fact that Kubota is indeed a "highly reputable manufacturer" which gave me the complete confidence that this would be the last riding mower I would have to buy in my lifetime.
If you take the time to go to online forums regarding Kubota, you will find that they are not without their problems. I stated that I have had to return the mower to the dealer about five times in five years and only one of these times was for scheduled maintenance ( the last time the repair cost me as much as I paid for my first mower). Compare this to one time over the history of two other mowers (Murray and John Deere) having to be returned for repair (Murray = 0 times--- John Deere = 2 times only for drive belt replacement) in 29 years.
Bottom line, I expected more and got a lot less so why pay thousands more for what you would get for a lot less? Please don'[t think that just because you put out the big bucks you are getting the best.

You can't plow the garden or scrape the snow with a zero turn.
I've only had to work on one Briggs & Stratton engines in the past century and that was because I defeated
the speed governor.

I have a Husqvarna, 5 years old, nice mower it came from J&B's, good people, good price. I have had to replace parts on the deck, but that came from letting other people use it. If you have a true acre of mowing to do I would go with a 0 turn.

go to j and b green and talk to joe. he shot strait with me about a new husqvarna. 6 mowing seasons later and nary a problem. what ever you buy, please avoid the kohler COURAGE engine as they are made in mexico junk. the command kohler is a fine engine. buy from a dealer so you have support. big box stores don't.
