It appears to be some kind of concrete product, perhaps a cheaper alternative to marble or granite?

The closest thing I can find is the 6th picture down on this link, but the one I watched on Bath Crashers wasn't shiny, more of a matte finish, which I prefer and it was chocolate brown.

post it when you find out .... I tiled around the tub here (with Durock on the frame) but what you're talking about sounds interesting

consider emailing the show

If you could Google Image search something like you're talking about and post a link to it I possibly could help. I'm a decent handy man and do all my own housework and DIY projects.

Sounds interesting, but I can't really get what you're saying. I would help if I had more info.

I was watching an episode of Bath Crashers and around the frame built to hold the tub, it looks like they put on the Durock, then a cement looking layer and then a colored smooth layer of some type of finish. Does anyone know what the heck I am talking about or what it is called? The episode is newer and not on DIY Network yet. I really want to do this, but I am unsure what that last thing is they used on it. Any help would be great.
