As has been said Terro is the best thing to use. They will carry it back to the nest and it'll kill them all. Last bottle I bought came from Walmart.

The Terro stuff is AWESOME! took care of my grandparents ant problem and they have a house that's over 200 years old and seems to keep "critters".

I use those ant bait squares in my house and my Mom's house and it wipes them right out in a few days. They are kind of like roach motels, but they let ants go through them, and carry something back to the nest that wipes them out.

if you know where they are coming in at you can line it with uncooked white rice and they will stop coming in...at least until they find a different way to come.

Ladylaws I don't have any animals that can get to it so I don't know about that. All I know is just spray in corners and against counter tops and under coutertops and doorways, and windows and it will stop your ant problem. I see one now and then about this time of year but if you don't control them they will take over.

Is spectracide to be used outside of the house? Is it safe if dogs are in the area you spray it in?

Them pesky little rascals are in everything. I had one floating in my hot cup of coffee last weekend. It was well cooked so it didn't taste to bad. Spectracide or however you spell it is good to kill them.

Spectracide. $4.95 a gallon at Walmart. Sprayed last fall with it and it's snuffed a black ant invasion a couple of weeks ago. Good stuff.
