Ant infestation please help

I have a story to tell on this subject.
I left some doughnuts on the stove last summer, I woke up one morning all weary eyed and picked up a doughnut for breakfast. Eyes half shut I noticed these doughnuts had sprinkles on them. Wait a minute, I thought these were glazed doughnuts. I get a cup of coffee and realize these doughnuts are crawling with tiny ants
This is real and I hope you enjoyed it

I have also used Borax mixd with sugar and water... I found it on Pinterest. At first you think it's not working, because the ants swarm to it, but within a couple of days ours were ALL gone!

just a lil info i learned from the cooperative extension. i talked to them once about ants on a different piece of property. their were anthills everywhere and i was at a loss on what to do. they endorsed products like terro if ants are coming in the house, but they also gave me a warning at the same time. some ants are just nuisance, others are worse ... fire ants. most ants in north carolina will actually fight for territory over fire ants. if you eliminate all ants on your property but have good habitats for ants .... you will be inviting fire ants in.

just get rid of them from you dwelling but leave the good beneficial ants to do their thing outside.

Terro also makes a shaker bag of stuff to sprinkle around your home as well. We have never had ants as bad as this year. (just bought our home in Feb) we started by putting the liquid out and it's really cut them down. We are gonna put the sprinkles outside over the weekend and continue with the liquid till they are wiped out. The bag of sprinkles was less than 10$ at Lowes.

Not sure if you have pets, but even homemade poisons like the borax sugar/ jam stuff can harm them so make sure it is placed where they can't get to it.

not boric acid ... borax, from the grocery store

I just want to ask if there is a difference in borax because I saw a youtube video of someone making this poison with laundry grade Borax and not the Boric Acid sold in stores intended to kill ants

3T borax 1 cup sugar 3 cups warm water ......to dissolve the powder and sugar......Put into lids like Gatorade lid works best.drop in a cotton ball and place in bathrooms under sinks near water supply. It works ive been doing this 2 weeks and you would not believe the dead ants in my bathroom.I haven't seen any in about a week......Really works takes it back to their nests and BAMN dead......

an exterminating company used to take off the electrical receptacle/coverplates, etc and squirt in a little powder chemical. the ants are probably nesting in the insulation and it's next to impossible to get rid of them. the bombs mentioned here earlier would probably work better than anything you just set out. gotta get into the insulation with the chemicals.

Terro Ant Liquid...works well

Terro is an excellent product for keeping ants at bay. But if you have a serious infestation you may need to put off insect bombs in the crawl space (assuming you have up underpinning), as well as a couple in the living area; open up all closet and cabinet doors, vents, furnace door, and anything else that will get the spray into the most areas. Then in about 3 weeks, repeat the process. Each time leave the house closed up tight for as long as possible. Maybe set off the bombs just before leaving for work and allow the house/crawl space to stay closed up all day. After that, keeping Terro around in different areas of the house and crawl space should do the trick.

Good luck.

i keep terro in my house at all times. sometimes when it rains for several days, the ants get flooded out of their colonies and sometimes end up in my basement or kitchen. as soon as i see one ant, i get out the terro. that one ant is the scout ... he will go back and get the rest of the colony.

terro is an excellent product

Ortho Home defense has always worked good for me, but i've never had that bad of a problem with them. My grandpa has used the Terro before, he swears by it.

Terro Ant Liquid...works like a charm..Get the liquid not the hotels. Put a few drops on a piece of cardboard, and put it wherever you see the most ants...leave it alone for an hour or so, and when you come back, it will be swarming with ants. We have NO ants now...they were about to carry us away before. Lowes has it...you can order it online too...I believe it is three or four dollars. One bottle lasts a long time. Good Luck!
