yes, that is where you put the water...the plants will soak the water...
it's also very easy to over water them...let the soil get completely dry before watering again...

I just read the link, duh. I bet that's what I'm doing wrong, letting the leaves get wet. I had no idea! Thanks again!!

From the bottom? Uh, no. And no, they have only been exposed to "room temps". How do I water them from the bottom? They're in small pots that have the catch pans under them (I guess that's what they're called). Do I just put the water in that? If so, how does the water penetrate the plant? Thanks Goddess.

are you watering them from the bottom?
I don;'t think you are supposed to get the leaves and blooms wet?
and is the window you have them sitting close to or in...does it get really cold at night?

Can anyone advise me on proper care of African violets? I've read on line and tried to follow care instructions but I must be doing something wrong. Someone gave me 4 potted ones because they were killing them, so I thought I'd try my hand. I've moved them from low light and now in my sunroom. I water them, a small amount, about every two weeks. Although they have some new growth on them, I'm pulling off more dead leaves than I think there should be. And they have not begun to bloom at all. Help?? Thanks in advance!
