Check out A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn, it is non-fiction, not particularly focused on just WW 2, but there is some good stuff in there about regular people and how the war affected them at home and abroad. It will give you a perspective unlike those you learn about in school where it is just the highlights and big players. It is just a great history book altogether, but a good section on WW2

hi, what ever happened to WWII subject matter books.

Now on the library shelves and eBay it's all about arabs/muslems. Not interested in books about specific airplanes, tanks, ships, ie, time-life type books... looking for 1940- 1970s era copyrights on WWII, fiction, non fiction, about the men who fought or battlefield histories.
