Ok I almost finished this book, but I have simply ran out of time with school back in. I did enjoy what I read, had it been a little easier to read, I am sure I would have been able to finish it by now. I hope you all enjoyed!

I am counting four that are reading or have read this book. Is that right? I think that is a pretty good number and I am pretty happy that we got this many on board to do it. I hope our numbers grow each month.

Ok, I'm back. It has been really crazy around here! I'm finished with the book too. Overall, I really liked it. The political parts seemed to confuse me a bit, but I waded through it. I couldn't help but like Elphie!

I finished the book and really enjoyed it. I am a little disappointed with the ending, but of course knew it was coming since I have seen the movie so many times. I am going to read the son's story soon. I am glad we read the book. It was slow and tedious, but worth it.

Allie please take your time reading it. We aren't in any hurry. We had until the end of the month anyway. There are only a few of us who are reading it so we can go at whatever pace we need to.

Allie don't feel like you are reading slow, this is a slow read! I saw both Lenny and Aerosmith in concert, seperately a few years ago, I am envious! Be careful and have a great time!

Well with school back in swing and chasing the kiddes, I am slower than ANYONE reading! Even though I take it with me everywhere.....doc visits. etc I am still struggling through. I give myself until this weekend to get it completed. Even if I have to take it with me to the Aerosmith & Lenny concert on Saturday :)

I am enjoying the book, I just wish I could sit down longer than a few minutes to read!

I'm all done! It was really a good book. I like how at the end **Spoiler**
it detailed how when Elphie died - what everyone was doing. I kind of wished that when she died that, that guy (her lover) was waiting for her on the other side. I was hoping for a happy ending.

I am also almost finished Sherrie. I am glad we read it too. I think watching the movie will take on a new meaning. Allie and Mommyof2 just wondering where you guys are in the book. Are you enjoying it?

Me too Fuzzy that is so cool to be able to link the movie and book. I am going to watch the movie soon. I used to watch it every year with my family when I was a little girl. I remember it always came on when the race was here for some reason. That was a good weekend for me!

Spoiler: I am almost done with the book and apparently Glinda has had a little crush on Elphie for years! I know this book has been slow, but I am glad I read it.

Holy Smokes!!!!!!!! I know I am slow, but dang I wasn't expecting Frex to have been sleeping with Turtle Heart Too!!! I am in the part of the book where the movie is starting to make sense. I am able to link certain parts of the original story to this one and that is pretty cool.

I am on about page 300 and Elphie has just started discussing the fact that the boy is her son. There was a close call with one of those mean brats almost killing him too. I can't remember any of their names. Duh?? I think it is Manek. I want Elphie to be nice to her son and acknowledge him. He has been treated so badly.

I may be interested in reading the son of a witch at some point when we select our next book, I am thinking something that you can read without a notebook to keep up with the who, the where, the what ! It is sooooooo complicated! But good, and I am glad we are reading it. Did you "get" why Glinda was sainted?

I meant to say the next book we pick to read.

Fuzzy I am exactly where you are. The sister has just announced to her that someone is there to see her. I really love Elphie too and I am going to read the book about her son too sometime. I agree though, I hope the next book is easier to read. This one is slow and tedious.

Elphie has gone to meet with Samaria, whats his names wife/widow. She has had a conversation with a woman/ elephant. She is traveling with her son/ servant. I am dazed/ confused.
Can we do a nice-easy-breezy read next? This book has me worn out.
With that said, I am very fond of Elphie. I even was happy for her while she was sleeping with a married man. I can't believe that Glinda is a Saint, what did she do to merit this? Did I miss something?

And to think I had a dream about my kids fighting :D somewhere.....somehow....I'm doing something wrong! 8)

I am in the 200's in the book. Read a little sexual encounter last night that made me have a wild dream. I must be desperate!! Getting excited about a green woman and a whatever the heck the guy is ( i won't say his name and spoil it for anyone). I am not sure if he is a munchkin, elf, who knows. LOL! Quadlings, munckinlanders... there are so many to keep up with.

I wish I could change it to just Allie, but that was taken :( It's the same though, no different here!

I am glad to see it was hard for you too, lol so it's not just me!

good that you are feeling better, Allie! Did you change your screen name? It looks different. I agree that the begining of the book is taxing. I am constantly trying to recall whos who and whats what! it took alot for me to get through the 1st 100 pages!

I am at the part where Elphie and (damn I can't remember the guys name) are having an affair. I really have begun to love her and think she is a sweet girl. I just need a little sex and adventure going on. It is a little tame for what I expected! Just kidding. No really, am I? I hope only the adventurous of you are reading this. Happy reading!
