I'd like The Old Man and the Sea to be the March book, or the April book, if Cholera is non-negotiable.

As unofficial unofficial President of the GoWilkes book club, I offer one rule only:
No book ever EVER EVER EVER made a part of the D'OPRAH "I AM THE GODDESS OF THE WORLD" BOOK CLUB shall ever, EVER EVER EVER be made the book of the month.
With that said, it is hereby decided that the book of the Month for Feb is "Of Mice and Men".
It is decreed that the book of March shall be "Love in the Time of Cholera". Mainly because...I just finished it and all. (It's fantastic)

The Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer is excellent. Its considered a young adult book and currently has 3 books in the series, Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse. The 4th book comes out in the fall. You can check out the first chapters of each book on her website www.stepheniemeyer.com Each book is roughly 600 pages but I read all three books in less than 5 days and I'm not really that big of a reader. If you are a person that likes romance, mystery, adventure and fantasy; this series has it all. There is also a movie in the works. Her first adult book The Host is scheduled to release soon.

Sure... it's been a while since I have read it.. I'm up for it. I'll probably have to find an online version... anybody know a site that does that?

I would like to humbly suggest a book. I think that the book Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck would be a great book to start off this little project. It's a quick read (107 pages, in my copy), and deals with a lot of issues that would engender discussion. What say you all?

I think it would be a good idea if we just read what Oprah picks each month or maybe even what our local library book club picks. That would make it so much easier.

I am with you... I am dying for a good read, but don't know what to do... or what to get.. I'd love to actually read while discussing with other people! Oprah's Book Club always has good books, surprisingly. I have only read a few though, but the ones I have read with her "seal of approval" have been very good... like Ken Follet's Pillars of the Earth. And James Frey's A Million LIttle Pieces.. and a few others. Maybe we could check out her book list for something most of us haven't read? I wish someone would step up and come up with something.
