They have it at Borders in Boone for $15.

When I go shopping in W-Salem, what I look forward to most is Barnes & Noble. Books, books, books. Yep, I'm a book nut. That's my idea of shopping.

Even if Walmart had a good selection, I wouldn't buy books there, we could use a nice bookstore here.

What I do miss is being able to browse in a bookstore while at a mall. Many malls are without bookstores now. Walmart in Wilkes has the worst book section of any dept store I've been in in 20 years. Looks like they would take advantage of the fact that Wilkes has limited book alternatives in town. Their prices are good enough that they would sell quite a few just out of shopping convenience and visibility.

Nearly impossible to beat Amazon on prices and speed of delivery. I find myself buying more and more ebooks for the iphone and iPad now. I preordered The Passage a month ago and it was automatically downloaded on release day. I love books, but I'm running out of space and you can do so much more with the text and presentation on the iPad. I now have apps for Amazon Kindle, B & N, as well as the Apple iBooks app, all a button push away.

Generally speaking, bookstores aren't franchised, and operating an independent bookstore is kind of like the old joke: How do you make a small fortune? You start with a large fortune.

They have opened them here we don't have enough people to support them.

What we need in this town is a real book store. Wish I had money...I'd get in with a nice franchise.

I hope they don't stop selling books. I rather enjoy getting my reading fix.

Is WalMart going to stop selling books? I was looking for the Justin Cronin book, The Passage which is supposed to be the read of the summer came out last Tuesday. They don't appear to have a whole lote of new releases that have come in since my last look. I normally buy from Amazon as they are cheaper, but I wanted to go ahead and pick it up. Nothin'
