I've wondered about that. I recently bought a plasma 3D in 720p and it is as good or better in resolution as the 1080p I already had. I couldn't ask for a better picture. I've researched the HD 4K's but, I think I'll wait for the prices to drop, as they always do.

However, several networks are interested in 4k channels. Espn dropped their 3D channel to free up bandwidth for a 4k network to launch soon.

That is all good, but can the networks and all the other media outlets be able to broadcast this. I haven't seen any 1080P broadcast, at least that I know of. Those curved TV, look cool, especially with a good flick like "Deep Throat".
