The Shack

Melissa's Mommy

I read it after my daughter died and I did not like the book. I had a hard time picturing God as a woman figure. I feel God is a much stronger person. As for Jesus and the holy spirit I thought they hit the nail on the head.

I read it, but to be honest, I didn't really care that much for it.

I loved it too. It sure makes you look at things in a different perspective and helps you to understand God's endless love for his children. He appeared in many forms in this book because God knew what this father needed at the time. Now if you have kids it is going to be hard to read past the first couple of chapters, but I promise if you keep reading ....it WILL BE WORTH IT.

I loved The Shack and am starting back through for round 2 now that the plot is out of the way just to absorb some deeper meaning. I think he did an awesome job depicting the Trinity. I'm looking forward to reading it again. Our small group from church just started a 6 week book study with this book . It is interesting to hear how different parts of the book affect people differently.

I also liked The Shack. It shows you how to treat other people even though it may be hard, very hard at times. It does have a suprise ending. You have to make your own judgement on that. It's worth reading. =)

I LOVED it. It shows the loving God as a mother-type person, who gave sustenance and comfort, and the son as simply a man, which he became for us. (Jesus did lay aside His deity to come to earth and live as a Spirit-empowered man, our example, and He died in our place, because only a perfect sacrifice can be accepted.) The whole point of this man's journey was to see the tragedy in his life through the eyes of God. Hope that helps a tiny bit with the confusion. :)

I can't say that I thought it was confusing...but it certainly didn't do anything for the spiritual or heavenly side of things. It certainly didn't add any positive connotations toward spirituality.

It's a nice little read...but, I was disappointed...it was to much like a Wizard of Oz scenario...story line is good...but I just wanted more meat, if you will!!!
